Position Location: DeSoto, Kansas

Purpose of the Role The Shift Manager is responsible for leading and managing production teams to achieve key performance metrics across

Safety, Training, Hiring & Onboarding, and Employee Development . This role serves as the primary leadership presence on assigned shifts and plays a critical role in driving operational excellence through strong communication, collaboration, and root-cause problem solving.

The Shift Manager works closely with cross-functional teams including

Reliability, Quality, Shipping, Planning, Talent Acquisition, and Human Capital

to ensure consistent performance and a positive employee experience.

Key Responsibilities People Development & Engagement

Lead, coach, and mentor team members in alignment with Rehrig Pacific’s

Complete

Day One Onboarding

for new employees using Spotlight

Utilize the

skill matrix

to recognize performance, drive engagement, and support retention

Conduct

quarterly KA reviews , annual PEAs, and provide continuous performance feedback

Identify training needs and implement development programs to strengthen team capabilities

Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment

Partner with Talent Acquisition and Human Capital on

staffing, succession planning, and talent development

Production Operations & Productivity

Demonstrate strong

safety leadership , ensuring compliance with safety standards and addressing concerns immediately

Coordinate shift schedules and partner with staffing agencies to support changing labor demands

Oversee daily production operations, manage priorities, and align shift goals with plant objectives

Ensure compliance with

plant cleanliness, food safety, and 5S standards

Drive improvement initiatives related to

scrap reduction and cycle efficiency

Plan and deploy resources effectively to meet customer expectationsMonitor production KPIs, perform

root cause analysis , and engage technical teams as needed

Communication & Relationship Building

Address performance issues and conflicts promptly and constructively

Build strong relationships with team members to understand concerns, goals, and development needs

Promote trust, accountability, and open communication across the shift and plant

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

3+ years of people management experience

in a manufacturing environment (preferred)

1+ year of injection molding experience

(preferred)

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

Proficiency in

Microsoft Word and Excel

Technical aptitude with the ability to understand or quickly learn

mechanical systems, tooling, and plastic manufacturing processes

Experience with

JDE

is a plus

Ability to train and lead a diverse workforce

Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
