In a very large urban district, under the general direction of the District 7 Assistant Division Chief for Program/Project Management, the incumbent serves as the Area Manager for the Office of Project Management. The incumbent is responsible for supervising and directing the Senior Transportation Engineers (Specialist/Project Manager) and Transportation Engineer (Assistant Project Manager) in managing projects to ensure that individual projects meet standards and practices and are completed on schedule and within budget. The incumbent will have responsibility from inception to completion of the construction contract, including responsibility for scope, cost, schedule, and coordination of work for success. You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement. Working Conditions: This position may be eligible for telework. In-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers, and any one of the following: One year of transportation engineering experience as a senior level engineer in the California state service. One year of supervisory or managerial experience equivalent in level to a Senior Transportation Planner in the California state service, and two years of civil engineering work at the Associate Engineer level or higher in the California state service. Broad and extensive (more than five years) transportation engineering experience, two years of which are equivalent in responsibility to the senior level engineer in the California state service. This examination will utilize an evaluation of each candidate’s experience and education (E&E) compared to a standard developed from the class specification. Candidates must fully disclose experience relevant to the “Minimum Qualifications” in the Class Specifications and complete the STD 678 application. This process provides for examination and job-selection specific to each position and is consistent with the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the classification.
