HR Operations Assistant (HR Front Desk) - Benefits/Human Resources
University of Michigan Health-West (Formally Metro Health) is looking for an HR Operations Assistant. Under the direction of the Human Resource Director, the HR Operations Assistant supports the HR department by performing a wide range of administrative, coordination, and assistant responsibilities. The HR Operations Assistant serves as the first line of communication for the Human Resources department ensuring the highest level of customer service is provided.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Associates degree in business, human resources or closely related field. Bachelor's Degree (or pursuing) highly preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience in human resources, business office and/or administration and 2 years of customer service experience. Human Resources experience highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal communication/customer service skill.
- Strong computer skills including: word, excel, and powerpoint.
- High degree of analytical ability, organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Maintains a general HR knowledge base in order to effectively respond to general HR, employment, policy, procedure and benefit questions.
- Schedules and meets with new hires to collect required documentation and ensure an efficient new hire onboarding process.
- Assists with the coordination of the electronic employee file system through the efficient scanning, uploading, and indexing of personnel files.
- Provides backup for the benefits department to ensure staff benefit questions, inquiries and documents are reviewed and processed in a time effective manner.
- Responds to calls and answers, screens, prioritizes, redirects and routes to the appropriate HR personnel as necessary.
- Greets all visitors including, employees, managers, and outside customers to determine their needs in order to appropriately assist them and ensure the highest level of customer service.
- Monitors, inventories and places purchase orders for office and other required supplies to ensure par levels are maintained in a cost effective manner.
- Opens, reviews, prioritizes and distributes interoffice and external mail.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned by HR leadership.
Days - 40 hours/week Shift: Days (Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm)
