A stepdown ICU registered nurse position is available in Gaston, SC, offering an opportunity for those with critical care skills to support patient recovery in an acute care setting. This contract role focuses on night shifts, primarily working 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, with weekend coverage required every other weekend. The position demands a strong background in cardiac telemetry and tele-competency, with the chance to float within comparable units to meet patient care needs. Key Responsibilities: Deliver focused nursing care to patients transitioning from ICU to lower acuity settings. Manage a patient ratio of approximately 1:4, ensuring close monitoring and timely interventions. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while utilizing the Epic electronic medical records system for accurate documentation. Float between designated units or sister facilities as required, maintaining adaptability within scope. Participate in facility protocols, including potential involvement in emergency response during hurricane season. Qualifications and Experience: Active Nursing license in South Carolina or a valid Compact license before assignment start. Minimum of one year of nursing experience required; two years preferred, especially in cardiac telemetry or equivalent stepdown unit. Certifications in BLS and NIHSS mandatory; ACLS and Crisis Prevention Intervention preferred. Prior experience with Epic charting and tele-competency essential. Previous charge nurse experience and community hospital background are advantageous. First-time stepdown or ICU nurses may be considered.
