Position Summary A Brooklyn-based school is seeking a Development Associate to support and coordinate fundraising initiatives within the Development Department. Reporting directly to the Director of Development and Director of Capital Campaign, this role serves as a key organizational and operational partner across event-based fundraising, donor engagement, and administrative support. This is an excellent opportunity for an intermediate-level professional to take ownership of fundraising events while supporting a wide range of development projects.
Responsibilities Development & Fundraising
Oversee fundraising components for multiple school events, including donor outreach and sponsorship solicitation
Partner with Registrar and IT teams to create targeted donor lists, spreadsheets, and fundraising tools
Coordinate with Marketing on campaign materials, emails, and print assets
Collaborate with Events and Education teams to promote and execute fundraising initiatives
Work with department leaders, committees, and volunteers to develop fundraising plans and steward donor relationships
Support annual naming opportunities and corporate sponsorships in collaboration with internal teams
Oversee donor acknowledgment materials, including donor books and gifts
Administrative & Systems Support
Provide support across fundraising projects, events, and reporting
Assist with management of donor plaques and capital campaign records
Maintain and analyze donor data within fundraising software, including pledge entry and reporting
Utilize fundraising and payment platforms for donor management and financial tracking
Follow up with donors regarding acknowledgments, sponsorship listings, dedications, and plaques
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant professional experience
Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive campaigns and projects simultaneously
Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate across departments
Exceptional attention to detail with strong proofreading and organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and Google platforms
Experience with donor management databases and fundraising tools a plus
