Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations with a strong emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and analytical oversight. This role is ideal for a seasoned payroll professional who serves as a subject matter expert, brings a consultative mindset, and can confidently oversee complex payroll matters. The Payroll Manager will play a key role in ensuring payroll integrity, strengthening controls, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage end-to-end payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees, including regular payroll cycles and off-cycle payments.

Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax reporting, wage and hour laws, and internal policies.

Conduct detailed audits of payroll results, identifying discrepancies in earnings, deductions, and withholdings, and ensuring timely resolution.

Review and approve payroll calculations related to new hires, terminations, promotions, bonuses, and other compensation changes.

Manage payroll reconciliations, including payroll account balancing and pay code to general ledger mapping.

Partner with an external payroll provider to oversee payroll tax filings, quarterly reporting, and year-end processes.

Serve as the primary escalation point for complex payroll issues and employee inquiries.

Lead payroll-related projects, including system enhancements, upgrades, and process improvements.

Develop, maintain, and enhance payroll documentation, controls, and audit procedures.

Provide guidance and expertise to internal stakeholders, ensuring payroll best practices are consistently applied.

Qualifications & Skills:

Extensive experience in payroll management with a strong focus on compliance and audit readiness.

Advanced knowledge of payroll regulations, tax requirements, and wage and hour laws.

Proven analytical skills with the ability to identify payroll variances and implement corrective actions.

Hands‑on experience with payroll systems, preferably ADP.

Expertise in overtime calculations, lookback rules, and payroll reporting.

Strong leadership presence with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

High attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to operate confidently in a highly visible role.
