Overview
Parkland Golf & Country Club is a private club community in northwest Broward County. The Controller manages the Club’s day-to-day accounting operations and ensures accurate, timely, and reliable financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, Florida requirements, and Club policies. This is a hands‑on role centered on dependable financial records, strong internal controls, and disciplined accounting practices.
Position Summary The Controller is responsible for overseeing the Club’s full cycle accounting operations and ensuring the integrity of financial information. These include the management and coordination of all accounting and financial reporting activities, oversight of the general ledger; financial reporting; accounts payable/receivable; treasury operations; reconciliations, cash management review; maintaining strong internal controls; and supporting the annual audit, tax preparation, and compliance reporting. The Controller works closely with the Director of Finance and supports Club leadership with dependable financial information in a $25 million operating environment. The ideal candidate will be a proactive financial leader with an understanding of private club operations, managing the financial records of multiple divisions/companies, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to service excellence.
Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations
Oversee daily accounting activities performed by accounting staff.
Maintain oversight of the general ledger and chart of accounts.
Ensure AP, AR, fixed asset management, and payroll are accurate and reliable.
Lead the month‑end and year‑end close processes.
Financial Reporting
Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
Prepare and present accurate monthly and annual financial statements and variance analyses.
Cash and Treasury
Review banking activity and monitor cash balances.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
Supports the Club’s budgeting process.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures.
Support annual audit and tax reporting.
Capital & Fixed Assets
Oversee fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules.
Monitor capital project spending and prepare capital spending reporting.
Systems & Leadership
Administer and oversee accounting systems (Jonas preferred).
Provide guidance and direction to accounting staff.
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and professionalism within the accounting function.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA, CMA, or CHAE preferred.
Minimum 5–7 years progressive accounting experience; private club, hospitality, or similar environment preferred.
Experience supervising accounting support staff.
Demonstrated ability to manage intercompany accounts and reconciliations a plus.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and audits.
Jonas or similar ERP proficiency; strong Excel skills.
High integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
