Western Governors University (WGU) is inviting applications for the Student Success Coach position in the WGU Academy. The role is full‑time, regular, and located in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. Job Profile Summary

The Success Coach primary mission is to support the success of Academy students who are assigned to you. You will help students complete required college‑level courses before enrolling full‑time at WGU (or other colleges) and develop the confidence, study habits, emotional wellbeing, and communication skills needed for success while at the Academy and throughout their future studies. You will guide students one‑on‑one and in group settings, deliver the “readiness” curriculum, and earn their trust to become a successful college student and future graduate. Responsibilities

Provide coaching and support for an average student load set by department standards, guiding progress in completing 2 or more college‑eligible courses over 2‑4 months. Leverage motivational interviewing techniques to influence positive behavior change in students. Facilitate Academy’s “college success” readiness curriculum delivered during the students’ first month, including online modules, group coaching, assignments, and personal coaching sessions. Lead virtual small group sessions that create community and inspire students. Encourage, reinforce positive behaviors, and celebrate milestones of assigned students. Collaborate within the Success Coach team, providing input on opportunities for improvement. Embrace WGU Leadership Principles with a high emphasis on learning, courage, and student obsession. Analyze data to improve student success and team productivity. Assist students with Academy systems and solve administrative problems that occur. Perform other related duties as assigned. Build strong rapport and communication abilities, especially via web conference. Promote a strong work ethic and attention to detail. Champion change and demonstrate flexibility in an ambiguous environment. Have intermediate experience with sophisticated technology systems. Possess foundational knowledge of coaching and positive psychology principles. Competencies

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree Accredited coaching certification Experience facilitating, presenting, or teaching in a remote online environment At least 3 years of coaching experience Preferred Qualifications

ICF Accredited Coach Training or NBHWC Experience supporting adult learners in distance learning environments Experience working with at‑risk learners Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM tools One year of professional experience in a high‑volume coaching center serving clients remotely or at least one year employed at WGU Academy with advanced motivational interviewing proficiency for six months Two years of professional experience teaching or facilitating groups, or advanced proficiency delivering social‑emotional learning curriculum for six months Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods seated at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Position & Application Details

Full‑time regular position (40 standard weekly hours) with eligibility for bonuses, comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, telehealth, mental health, and life insurance, disability coverage, and a flexible paid time off program. The role offers 11 paid holidays and up to 12 weeks of parental leave. Salary range: $54,800.00 – $82,200.00 (Grade: Professional 305). How to Apply
