Job Description We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented

Payroll Supervisor

to join our growing team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations for our clients. The Payroll Supervisor oversees day‑to‑day payroll processing, manages staff workflow, leads training and development, and resolves escalated issues with a focus on quality, accuracy, and client service.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise payroll processors, providing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback.

Manage daily workflow to ensure timely and accurate completion of payroll cycles.

Serve as an escalation point for complex payroll questions or issues and provide effective resolutions.

Train, mentor, and onboard new payroll staff on processes, systems, and compliance requirements.

Review weekly/biweekly/monthly payroll cycles to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and client specifications.

Conduct regular audits of payroll output for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal controls.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and proactively address process gaps or inefficiencies.

Ensure payroll activities align with company policies, service‑level agreements, and industry best practices.

Identify opportunities to streamline procedures and enhance workflow efficiency.

Collaborate with internal teams, including HR, Accounting, and Client Services, to support seamless payroll operations.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and system enhancements.

Basic Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Accounting, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Experience: Minimum 4–5 years of payroll experience, including hands‑on processing; Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or lead role, ideally within a multi‑client or high‑volume payroll environment.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with payroll systems (ADP, UKG, Workday, or similar platforms); Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, lookups); Knowledge of FLSA, wage and hour laws, and multistate payroll requirements.

Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities; Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment; Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and client satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).

Experience working in a professional services or outsourced payroll environment.

Exposure to process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean or Six Sigma).

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Crowe, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $84,700.00 – $168,900.00 per year.
