is looking for a small business
Controller
in
North Little Rock , who will be responsible for the day‑to‑day accounting operations of a growing small business (5M+ in annual revenue), including full general ledger ownership in QuickBooks, timely and accurate month‑end close, and oversight of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
Key responsibilities
Maintain an accurate general ledger in QuickBooks, including daily posting, journal entries, and chart of accounts maintenance.
Own the month‑end and year‑end close processes: accruals, prepaids, reconciliations, and preparation of internal financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
Perform and review all bank, credit card, and loan account reconciliations each month, resolving discrepancies promptly.
Oversee accounts payable: vendor setup, invoice coding, approval workflows, payment runs, and monitoring of aging to optimize cash flow.
Oversee accounts receivable: customer setup, invoicing, cash application, monitoring aging, and coordinating collections activity.
Monitor cash flow daily/weekly and provide basic cash projections and recommendations to ownership.
Implement and maintain internal controls around spending, approvals, and accounting entries appropriate for a small business environment.
Coordinate with external CPA on tax filings, year‑end adjustments, and any required compilations or reviews.
Develop and refine simple accounting policies and procedures to support scalability as the company grows.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands‑on small business or closely held company experience.
Strong QuickBooks (Online or Desktop) proficiency, including custom reporting and cleanup work.
Solid understanding of GAAP, month‑end close, and reconciliations in a small business context.
Experience overseeing AP and AR processes; comfortable rolling up sleeves to execute when needed.
Advanced Excel skills and ability to build simple, management‑ready reports and schedules.
High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines in a lean environment
Highly desire someone with service/retail company experience
