Description This position will work in the Library Makerspace on the main floor of Bizzell Memorial Library. Workers will greet patrons, demonstrate equipment capabilities, troubleshoot basic issues, and guide users through workflows for technologies including introductory 3D scanning, 3D printing, Virtual Reality, Cricut cutting machines, and related design processes.
Students receive hands‑on training on all technologies so they can effectively support patrons and maintain equipment.
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain technology to expected standards.
Keep the space clean, organized, and welcoming.
Demonstrate oral and written communication skills, communicating effectively with patrons at varying technological skill levels.
Help patrons envision innovative ways to use OU Libraries.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in the Spring 2026 term as a student at the University of Oklahoma.
Must attach Spring 2026 class schedule.
Communicate effectively in written and oral English.
Ability to explain technical subjects to novices.
Multi‑task and manage time effectively.
Maintain a professional appearance and manner.
Willingness to learn and interact with new technology.
Preference for students with previous customer service experience.
Prior experience in 3D printing, virtual reality, and electronics preferred but not required.
Physical & Other Requirements
Regular bending, stooping, reaching, stretching, standing for extended periods, frequent computer use, and light lifting.
Must be subject to background check and police records check.
Final candidate subject to university tuberculosis testing policy.
