As a Patient Care Tech at UAB Medical West, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our patients. Under the supervision of the RN or LPN, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs various duties to support the treatment and care of patients according to established methods and procedures. The PCT takes and records vital signs, assists with personal hygiene, changes bed linens, and completes other tasks as assigned to promote the basic comfort and personal care of the patient. Your attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure will be essential in ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Must possess American Heart Association BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.

Ability to lift and move patients as needed

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting

Additional training or certification in patient care

Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) program

Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

Assist nursing staff with daily patient care activities

Monitor and record vital signs

Assist with personal hygiene and grooming

Provide emotional support to patients and their families

Maintain a clean and safe patient environment

As a Patient Care Tech, you will use your strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with patients and their families. Your attention to detail and ability to multitask will be essential in ensuring that patients receive the best possible care. You will also use your physical strength and stamina to lift and move patients as needed. Additionally, your ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing situations will be critical in this fast-paced environment. Finally, your proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) will help you to accurately document patient care activities and maintain patient confidentiality.
