Environmental Specialist I (Temporary)
Office: NC Office of State Human Resources, Division: Temporary Solutions, Department: Environmental Quality. Location: 217 West Jones Street, Wake County.
Grade: NC12. Position Number: (unprovided). Hourly Rate: $24.00 (based on education and or years of relevant work experience). This is a temporary position with no leave or retirement benefits. Temporary employees working an annual average of 30+ hours/week may be eligible for HDHP coverage.
Effective July 1 2025, minimum education and experience requirements apply as listed below. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed in this announcement are management preferences for screening.
Responsibilities
Assist with administering a utility‑scale solar management program.
Assist with rulemaking, program registry and fees, database management, review of solar decommissioning plans, cost estimates, and other division duties as assigned.
Provide technical communication and program support with staff, management, counties, the public, and the regulated community. Assist with private well sampling and sampling equipment.
Demonstrate understanding of statutes, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, or guidance.
Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental project management processes.
Communicate technical information through written, verbal, or formal training.
Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
