Part‑Time Instructor, Urban Education, Spring 2026
The Department of Urban Education, School of Arts and Sciences‑Newark, Rutgers University‑Newark (RU‑N) is seeking part‑time instructors (Lecturer/Coadjunct) for the Spring 2026 semester to teach education surveys or upper‑level courses focused on specific themes or topics. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing course material, creating and posting a course syllabus, presenting material during scheduled class times, holding office hours, responding to student emails, conducting and grading assessments, and submitting final grades. Course appointments may require instruction during the day, evenings, weekends, off‑campus, online, hybrid, or remotely, in any combination necessary to meet departmental needs.
Responsibilities
Develop lecture and discussion materials for assigned courses.
Create and post a course syllabus in accordance with department standards.
Deliver instruction during scheduled class sessions.
Hold office hours and provide timely feedback to students.
Grading and assessment of student work and submission of final grades.
Adapt instruction to online, hybrid, or remote delivery as required.
Qualifications
Master’s degree required; Ph.D. or other terminal degree preferred.
Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with online or hybrid course delivery is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits Salary: A minimum of $2,777 per credit. Final salary offer will be determined by qualifications, experience, department or grant funds, market benchmarks, and internal equity.
