Job Purpose and Summary Within our retail locations we bring our promise to life with heart every day. Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver operational excellence and an exceptional patient experience. They are often the first point of contact for patients, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely and accurately while providing caring service that exceeds expectations. All duties are performed in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, best practices and effective communication. After rigorous training and licensing, technicians contribute to a safe, inclusive culture where all feel valued and empowered.
Key Responsibilities
Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
Provide personalized, empathetic service to patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone; solve or appropriately escalated patient problems.
Complete basic inventory activities (put away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting bin inventories) as directed by pharmacy leadership.
Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge, and willingly travel to other stores in the market to support business needs.
Comply with all relevant federal, state and local laws, regulations, professional standards and ethical principles; adhere to CVS policies for patient safety, controlled substance dispensing, record keeping and privacy.
Deliver additional patient health care services such as immunizations and point‑of‑care testing, when authorized by law and supported by training.
Immunization Responsibilities (if applicable)
Complete additional state Board of Pharmacy requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status for vaccine preparation and administration.
Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist‑on‑duty.
Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
Collect and document patient information for each vaccination.
Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
Comply with any state Board of Pharmacy requirements governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education and licensure/certification.
If the state board does not set a minimum age, a minimum of 16 years is required.
If no educational requirement exists, a high school diploma or equivalent (or active enrollment) is required.

Essential Functions
Reliable attendance (including nights and weekends); complete training within designated timeframe.
Attention and focus – concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between tasks, verify prescription and label accuracy.
Customer service and team orientation – help people in a friendly manner, respond appropriately to patient reactions.
Communication skills – use verbal and written communication; active listening; ask questions; avoid interruptions.
Mathematical reasoning – use math to calculate dosage, day‑supply, and refill needs.
Problem resolution – identify challenging interactions and choose optimal solutions.
Physical demands – mobile, lift, scan, bag items, reach overhead; occasional lifting up to 20 lbs; perform tasks requiring fine motor skills.
Additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
1–3 years of previous pharmacy technician experience.
Experience in retail, medical or customer service settings.
Flexibility to work in the home store and in other locations in the market.
Anticipated Weekly Hours 40 hours per week (full time)
Pay Range $17.00 – $27.00 per hour (base hourly rate; actual offer varies by experience, geography and other factors)
