Summary of Job Duties Career Consultants in Walton Career Connections provide guidance, coaching, programming, and education to Walton students through consulting, collaboration with employers, and identification of industry trends. Career Consultants will be responsible for managing a portfolio of undergraduate and graduate students, collaborating with team and academic departments regarding programming, and tracking outcomes. Must provide in‑person support of programming/events during office hours, Monday‑Friday 8 am‑5 pm, and occasional evenings and weekends, less than 10 evenings or weekends a semester. Regular, non‑disruptive and in‑person, reliable attendance is an essential job duty, as well as the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, human resources, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
Four years of professional work experience that includes recruiting or career development for corporate functions or relevant recruiting experience for corporate clients in related functional areas.
Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and understanding in career fields within business education (specifically within Accounting and Finance; Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain Management and CPG; Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship; Economics and Information Systems; and MBA and Specialty Master's Programs).
Experience with resume writing, interviewing and job search skills.
Proficient with web‑based resources, spreadsheet and presentation software required (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel).
Must be able to provide in‑person support of programming/events during office hours, Monday‑Friday 8 am‑5 pm, and occasional evenings and weekends, less than 10 evenings or weekends a semester.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in business, marketing, human resources or related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
Demonstrated knowledge of job search and process management.
Experience with pivot tables in Excel for data analysis.
Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems, Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) and/or Career Services platforms (e.g., Handshake, VMock, etc.).
Experience working with students in a higher education environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain effective rapport with students, alumni, and recruiters.
Ability to listen actively, adapt to changing situations, and coach and motivate others.
Project management abilities.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication including the ability to develop effective presentations and speak confidently to large audiences.
