Base Pay Range $34.00/hr – $34.00/hr

Position Overview Permanent Full‑Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician supporting the Truck Fleet at Ryder in Lihue, HI.

Pay & Incentives

Hourly Pay: $34.12 per hour

Sign‑on Bonus: $3,000 total ($1,500 at 30 days, $1,500 at 90 days)

Tool Box Incentive: $300 yearly allowance

Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification (up to $700)

Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter – four times per year

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Vocational or technical certification / post‑secondary degree preferred

Basic tools required

Experience with mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)

Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems

Three or more years of relevant work experience (preferred)

Valid commercial driver license (CDL) Class A (preferred)

All additional certifications required by location (required)

Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment

Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.

Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire

Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background/Motor Vehicle check (includes drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance

Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable

Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision; work unsupervised on most tasks

Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task

Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation

Operate in accordance with all federal / provincial / corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)

Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels

Access and use internal and external maintenance documents

Perform other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)

Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220)

Complete two OEM online diagnostic scan‑tool software courses within 365 days (as required by location)
