POSITION DESCRIPTION Plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. This is a salaried, exempt position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares, administers, and documents medications and therapies including chemotherapy and/or biotherapy according to organizational policy and procedures.
Provides conscious sedation as indicated for procedural needs in clinic and for patients receiving radiation at an alternate site with oversight from a provider.
Performs quality patient assessments for medication administration including, but not limited to assessing pain level, medication reconciliation, performing a review of systems, assessing for adverse reactions, obtaining vital signs, checking height, checking weight.
Participates in Rapid Response Team assignment and triage call assignment.
Communicates data and information to other members of the Health Care Team.
Establishes interpersonal relationships with patients while maintaining professional boundaries.
Provides information and education to patients and families.
Completes all nursing documentation with attention to detail by the end of the shift or the next scheduled shift if revision is required.
Participates in quality and performance improvement initiatives, which includes participation in submitting and resolving Quality Improvement Reports.
Completes assigned checklists and daily tasks as assigned this may include routine checks of crash carts, sedation bag, jump bag, IV carts, and procedure rooms.
Attends daily and monthly huddles.
Ensures appropriate resources, equipment and supplies are available. Participates in daily responsibilities and clinic preparations.
Directs patient care activities of other health care workers and ancillary personnel in accordance with the scope of their practice and organizational policy.
Assists in the orientation and precepting of team members and students.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current Nevada Registered Nurse license.
A minimum of one (1) year hospital experience within the last three years.
Active American Heart Association BLS and PALS certification.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BSN
One (1) year of pediatric or PICU experience and bedside nursing in the past 2 years.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop and reach.
Occasionally required to push/pull/lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
POST OFFER: Quantiferon Tuberculosis blood test, Complete Blood Count (CBC), Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP), pre‑employment physical, pre‑employment drug screen.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Spanish speaking preferred, but not required.
