JOB SUMMARY Primary responsibility is to ensure that all persons have a safe and enjoyable experience while visiting or using the Westmont Park District facilities.

Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator, this work is both supervisory and hands on in nature; coordinate, schedule and perform duties as assigned with Summer Camp activities; keep records; exercise professional judgment and initiative within established policies and regulations; and perform a wide variety of tasks as may be assigned.

Hours:

Monday-Thursday 9:30A – 1:30P Rate:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Role includes planning, organizing and implementing summer activities for children aged 4-5 years old.

2. Assist with weekly activity plans

3. Serve as role models for participants.

4. Create and maintain a working team that promotes a positive and constructive environment for children.

5. Properly enforce code of conduct and disciplinary procedures

6. Promote cooperation among staff

7. Assist in preparing assigned areas for the children, as well as, clean it up and put all materials away before leaving.

8. Provide conflict resolution for both patrons and staff

9. Effectively communicate with participating parents and families

10. Maintain daily communication with the Recreation Coordinator

11. Perform any additional related tasks as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

Basic understanding of how recreation programs work. Additional knowledge in safety, camps, and children’s activities is a plus. Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

18 years old is preferred. Any prior experience with kids or summer camps is a plus.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Obey the practical safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the safety program that is pertinent to the activities conducted by the department.

Daily supervision of all staff safety and training programs to ensure compliance by all employees.

Promptly report to Safety Coordinator or member of Safety Committee all unsafe actions, practices or conditions observed.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Personnel and Employment Policy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

In an 8-hour workday employee may engage in activities that may include, but are not limited to: standing, sitting, walking, driving, bending, twisting and lifting.

Facility management of an outdoor facility is required.
