Responsibilities

Provides direct nursing care to clients, including comprehensive admission assessments, dispensing medication, providing physician-ordered medical treatment, transcribing orders, and collection of specimens for laboratory analysis or culture.

Provides health education to clients, monitors client behavior and participates in treatment planning.

Assesses the needs of clients, including an assessment of care received, services available, and work environments to identify potential obstacles to success.

Handles crisis intervention with clients (psychological, physiological and behavioral).

Maintains accurate and detailed reports and records electronically and/or physically as appropriate.

May provide clinical supervision to licensed, paraprofessional, and direct care personnel (i.e. Addictions Counselors) involved in the care and treatment of clients and may assist in aspects of administrative supervision, such as developing/setting performance standards; may serve as shift supervisor on the evening or night shifts.

May assist in general client care activities, such as meal preparation & distribution and room preparation.

Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment; monitors clients and ensures building security.

Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Candidate must be in possession of a license and current registration to practice nursing within the State of New York. Must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Failure to maintain licensure, certification and Medicaid/Medicare eligibility will result in the termination of employment.

Mandatory overtime (MOT) is a requirement of this position. Chosen candidate(s) will be added to the mandatory overtime roster, which is utilized on a rotating basis. The MOT is applied during times of emergency, after the agency has made a good faith effort to have overtime covered and all other staffing options have been exhausted.

OASAS Addiction Treatment Centers (ATC's) are tobacco free facilities.

Additional Comments Registered Nurse 1 Psychiatric – $76,147 – $85,138. Plus Geographic Pay – $20,000.

The salary range listed for this posting reflects the full range for this graded position, factoring in annual performance advances based on satisfactory annual performance reviews. Candidates with no previous State service will begin at the hiring rate (starting rate of the salary range) listed above, plus any applicable Location Pay/Geographic Pay/Shift Pay differentials.

Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations, and negotiated union contracts.

Mandatory overtime (MOT) is a requirement of this position. The ATC’s operate 24/7/365 programming; MOT is essential for maintaining adequate staffing.

Background Investigation Requirements: Prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL), investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC) including State and federal Criminal History Record Checks, and screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR).
