Description

Provides direct nursing care to clients, including comprehensive admission assessments, dispensing medication, providing physician‑ordered medical treatment, transcribing orders, and collection of specimens for laboratory analysis or culture.

Provides health education to clients, monitors client behavior and participates in treatment planning.

Assesses the needs of clients, which can include an assessment of care received, services available, and work environments to identify potential obstacles to success.

Handles crisis intervention with clients (psychological, physiological and behavioral).

Maintains accurate and detailed reports and records electronically and/or physically as appropriate.

May provide clinical supervision to licensed, paraprofessional, and direct care personnel (i.e. Addictions Counselors) involved in the care and treatment of clients and may assist in aspects of administrative supervision, such as developing/setting performance standards; may serve as shift supervisor on the evening or night shifts.

May assist in general client care activities, such as meal preparation & distribution and room preparation.

Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment; monitors clients and ensures building security.

Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: The candidate must be in possession of a license and current registration to practice nursing within the State of New York. Candidates must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Failure to maintain licensure, certification and Medicaid/Medicare eligibility will result in the termination of employment.

Note: Mandatory overtime (MOT) is a requirement of this position. Chosen candidate(s) will be added to the mandatory overtime roster, which is utilized on a rotating basis. The MOT is applied during times of emergency, after the agency has made a good faith effort to have overtime covered and all other staffing options have been exhausted (volunteers, hourly staff, contracted staff). The ATC operates 24/7/365 programming; therefore, MOT is an essential function of this position and is critical to maintaining adequate staffing at all times in order to ensure the health and safety of clients within the facility.

OASAS Addiction Treatment Centers (ATCs) are tobacco (and vape) free facilities.

Salary and Benefits Registered Nurse 1 Psychiatric - $76,147 - $85,138 plus Geographic Pay - $20,000. The salary range reflects the full range for this graded position, factoring in annual performance advances based on satisfactory annual performance reviews. Candidates with no previous State service will begin at the hiring rate (starting rate of the salary range) listed above, plus any applicable location pay/shift pay differentials. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations, and negotiated union contracts.

Background Investigation Requirements Prospective appointees will be:

Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL); names found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment.

Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC) that includes State and federal criminal history record checks. All convictions must be reported; felony or misdemeanor conviction, or any falsified or omitted information, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted; they may be required to pay necessary fees.

Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees.
