Job Summary This position is responsible for the overall operation of all department machines and supplying good, quality product with the ability to meet deadlines in a safe manner. Additional responsibilities will include: training and general direction to the Assistants, assistance with creating SOP and other production related documentation, inventory data-entry and cross‑training into other job functions as needed. This position requires routine attendance to departmental, production, safety and company meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operate all department machinery with minimal supervision. Duties include operating at Mixing, Extruding, or Grinding during breaks and shift changes, assisting Grinder crews during full cleans, filling in for absences, and operating the Small Grinder when available.

Adhere to and follow all quality guidelines. Continually check product for quality throughout the manufacturing process. Work with Supervisor and crew to ensure Standard Work and 6S guidelines are followed.

Operate forklift to lift/transport raw materials and finished products while adhering to all power industrial equipment rules and safety requirements.

Maintain a clean work environment as outlined in applicable job description; ensure tools & equipment are kept in an orderly fashion, stored where required for easy access; maintain equipment and report any maintenance issues immediately to supervisor and maintenance department.

Utilize computer at workstation to log in, enter/review production data and work orders as required.

Cross‑train into other job functions providing assistance as necessary or during downtime within the department.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

High School Diploma/GED or 4 years of machine operator/manufacturing experience required.

English fluency (read, write, speak).

Proven ability to multitask in a stressful environment (dirty, confined spaces, strict timelines, etc.), attention to detail, and adapt to changing demands.

Read and understand units of measure.

Ability to perform basic math functions.

Demonstrated comfort with data entry and basic computer skills; ERP experience preferred.

Must be safety conscious and carry out work responsibilities in a safe manner.

Must be able to work overtime to meet operational requirements.

Able to safely perform related physical requirements/demands of the role.

12 months forklift experience.

12 months manufacturing or machine operating experience.

Ability to wear mask when performing job and work from heights.

Ability to learn operation of all Color Mill machines within 6 months.

Work Environment Manufacturing Environment: This position may operate in a manufacturing setting with conditions of high‑pressure air/steam/gas, hazardous gas/chemical fumes, extreme heat and temperature variations, loud noise, exposure to dangerous machinery, dirty work environment and/or exposure to dust (pigment). The position is required to wear PPE including, but not limited to safety glasses, steel toe/composite boots and earplugs.

Physical and Mental Demands

Prolonged periods of standing, walking, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending, reaching, climbing, stooping, lifting, pounding, pushing and/or pulling.

Exert up to 55 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Manual dexterity to move material and operate equipment.

Communicate effectively (write, speak) with supervisors and others on performance and safety concerns.

Adequate hearing ability to receive work instruction and to respond to changes in work environment.

Attention to detail to complete work assignments.

Time management to comply with scheduled work time and maintain productivity requirements. Ability to understand and abide by safety policies and maintain a safe work environment.
