On Campus/Onsite, Washington University Medical Campus Full time (40 hours)

Position Summary This Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) is eligible for a $15,000 sign-on bonus and $5,000 relocation reimbursement, which will be discussed with interviewed candidates. In addition, hires are eligible for additional compensation bonuses tied to productivity and retention. These positions offer billable hours, shift and holiday differential, and monthly bonuses.

Position Details

Full-time (average 40 hours per week)

Schedule consists of an average of (3) 12–13 hour shifts per week to include up to 50% nights, weekends, holidays, and paid call

Flexible scheduling options may be available, including weekend and/or night shift-only options with additional incentives

Eligibility for a recurring retention bonus given after 12 months of employment and every 2 years thereafter

Monthly bonus (including productivity and shift differential)

Annual bonus

Referral bonus

The advanced practice provider (NP) will be employed by the Department of Anesthesiology within WashU Medicine, a top-ranked medical school in the country. The NP will work at Barnes‑Jewish Hospital, a nationally recognized Magnet center and ranked among the nation’s best hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, and/or affiliated BJC community hospitals, and telemedicine.

Opportunities include cardiothoracic ICU, surgical/burn/trauma ICU, combined medical/surgical ICUs, and telemedicine. ICU work locations will be determined based on the applicant's experience and professional interests.

Will practice as an independent provider in collaboration with a fellowship‑trained intensivist within diverse, skilled, inter‑professional critical care teams. The environment is challenging and rewarding and allows the ACNP the opportunity to practice to the fullest extent of their scope of practice.

Job Description Responsibilities include obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, participating in inter‑professional rounds, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, designing and implementing plans of care, and performing invasive procedures. Typical provider:patient ratio 1:6. In our critical care environments, talents and skills are developed through intellectually stimulating work experiences, ample educational offerings, procedural simulation, and other learning venues.

Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) – American Nurses Credentialing Center

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association

Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation

Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration

Certified Nurse Practitioner – American Association of Nurse Practitioners

Certified Nurse Practitioner – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation

Certified Nurse Practitioner – Missouri Division of Professional Registration

Z – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association

More About This Job

Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or recent completion/anticipated completion of accredited ACNP program

APRN licensure or ability to successfully obtain licensure within three months of date of hire

Active Missouri license and in good standing, or ability to obtain

Certain/additional certifications or experience may be necessary based on area of specialty

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support – American Heart Association

Salary Range Base pay is commensurate with experience.

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
