Position Summary The UNMCC is recruiting an Oncology RN in our Infusion Suite to provide professional nursing care and coordinate oncology treatments, including chemotherapy administration and blood products, often in intensive care conditions, ensuring adherence to hospital, department, and university policies and nursing procedures, standards, and practices. The candidate must obtain a chemotherapy/biotherapy certification from ONS within 6 months of hire and maintain it during employment.

The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is the Official Cancer Center of New Mexico and the only National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center within a 500-mile radius. Its 136 board‑certified oncology specialty physicians, along with more than 600 other cancer health‑care professionals (nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, navigators, psychologists, and social workers), provide treatment to 65% of New Mexico’s cancer patients. In 2024, the center treated more than 15,000 patients in nearly 105,000 ambulatory clinic visits and in‑patient hospitalizations and supported 2,075 patients in clinical trials.

Conditions of Employment

CPR Certified.

Maintain certification and/or licensure status.

Complete department‑specific professional development activities.

Submit immunization records for required vaccines and TB testing.

Accept Hepatitis vaccination provided by UNM or submit proof of prior vaccination.

Undergo post‑offer, pre‑employment physical examination and medical history check.

Comply with the University’s influenza vaccination requirement for patient‑care staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Nursing.

At least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or temporary licensure pending, or RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate practice compact with New Mexico.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution above the minimum education requirement may substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in oncology.

Experience in an ambulatory clinic or SAC/ICU.

Administering chemotherapy and/or blood products.

Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Oncology certification.
