Position Summary
The Hair and Makeup Assistant Crew Lead assists the Hair and Makeup Crew lead in all aspects as needed. Responsibilities include helping maintain run paperwork, and overseeing their crew in preparing, sanitizing, and applying makeup and wigs for all shows. They will run a principal track, and assist the Crew Lead in training other crew members in all elements of show running throughout the season.
Essential Functions
Maintain backstage paperwork
Run a principal track, including wig, makeup, and SFX makeup as appropriate.
Assist with the on-going inspection to identify repairs and maintain integrity of design.
Maintain an inventory document of all needed items for run of shows
Maintain flexible schedule for work calls especially during tech weeks
Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and maintain a safe work environment
Adhere to/enforce all rules and regulations required by the Actor's Equity Association
Qualifications / Skills / Abilities
At least 2 years of professional work experience in a live theatrical environment as a wig/makeup crew member or equivalent educational experience
Demonstrated knowledge of/and experience in a variety of wig styles and maintenance techniques
Ability to adequately operate Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive for paperwork maintenance.
Working knowledge of hand and machine stitching techniques
Ability to wash, block, roller set, and style wigs
Must be able to run short distances and use stairs both while carrying a basket
Must be able to stand length of show
Ability to lift 20 lbs
Ability to ventilate and re-front wigs is a huge plus
Housing is available at $50 per week.
This is an IATSE represented position, but you do not have to be an IATSE member to apply.
Production Dates: April 6- October 31, 2026
Salary/Rate: $22/hour
2026 Production shows include Les Miserables, Finding Nemo, and Grease.
