Overview The role is an Administrative Office Specialist 1 supporting the Program Manager of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Southwest Virginia Community College.
Responsibilities
Support the mission and goals of the SBDC, SWCC, SBA, and State SBDC network.
Work directly with small businesses in Buchanan, Russell, Tazewell, and part of Dickenson counties; assist the Program Manager with development of business plans, marketing strategies, loan applications, finance sources, business structures, licenses, and other startup/existing business issues.
Procure office supplies/services and prepare travel arrangements.
Assist with preparation of business‑related workshops for private individuals, businesses, and the industrial community.
Network with civic organizations and government entities to identify sources of information and services related to small business.
Qualifications (KSA's)
Office management and clerical experience; ability to work independently and with a team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other programs (e.g., VCCS System, Canva).
Ability to multitask.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Confidentiality and discretion.
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
Additional Considerations
Experience with Google Docs, eVA, Calendly.
Professional writing skills.
Experience with office organization.
Experience creating professional newsletters.
