Overview
Position Summary:
The Field Service Technician Lead is responsible for managing the on‑site team during major component exchange projects. Oversees field operations, ensuring that all work meets quality and safety standards, and serves as the main point of contact between the field team and project management. The Field Service Technician Lead is expected to demonstrate exemplary leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to the safety‑driven culture within the renewable energy industry.
Responsibilities Essential Job Functions:
Lead and supervise field operations for major component exchanges on wind turbines, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Field Service Technicians I, II, and III.
Ensure safety protocols are adhered to, with an emphasis on proactive safety leadership and a safety‑first mentality.
Develop and implement work schedules, allocate resources, and oversee job‑site logistics.
Review and approve service reports and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Communicate effectively with management and clients regarding project progress, challenges, and successes.
Conduct risk assessments and troubleshoot complex issues, providing solutions to minimize downtime.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and exceptional service delivery.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education and Work Experience Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent; advanced technical certifications or a degree in renewable energy or wind turbine technology preferred.
7+ years of hands‑on experience with wind turbine maintenance and operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day‑to‑day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the company’s Zero Injury principles.
Advanced technical knowledge of wind turbine systems, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components.
Proven experience leading teams and managing complex field projects.
Commitment to proactive safety culture, with a focus on zero‑harm practices; strong understanding of safety standards and risk management practices.
Required to travel to different jobsites on a limited notice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team.
Working Environment:
Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, and extreme heat.
Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
