Content Specialist – The Menninger Clinic This role focuses on strategic content leadership within the philanthropy and fundraising function. Base pay range: $49,500 – $70,000 per year.

Key Functions

Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising content strategy aligned with Menninger’s philanthropic goals and branding standards.

Lead content planning for annual stewardship and donor lifecycle communications, including the annual report, biannual newsletter, and impact reports, ensuring consistency and strategic alignment.

Partner with Marketing, Community Initiatives, Alumni and Clinical teams to refine donor messaging frameworks and articulate compelling value propositions for philanthropic investment.

Produce high‑quality content including appeals, case statements, stewardship reports, donor program narratives, digital/social campaigns, and donor impact stories.

Support the development of materials for major and principal gift initiatives, including proposals, pitch decks, and personalized donor communications.

Manage segmented messaging across donor groups, ensuring relevance to clinical priorities, campaign initiatives, and strategic objectives.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Marketing, Community Initiatives, Alumni and Clinical teams to translate clinical insights and outcomes into accessible donor‑focused narratives.

Provide creative direction to Marketing team, designers, vendors, freelancers, and internal stakeholders for content development and production.

Serve as a strategic advisor to colleagues regarding donor communication best practices, message alignment, and ethical storytelling.

Event, Campaign & Executive Communications

Lead the development of event scripts, program stories, honoree profiles, and video content for fundraising events, including the Menninger Annual Luncheon.

Draft remarks, talking points, and high‑level communications for CDO/VP, senior leadership and Board members.

Support pre‑ and post‑event communication strategies to maximize donor participation and stewardship.

Content Development & Quality Management

Maintain editorial calendars and oversee workflow to ensure timely delivery of high‑quality materials.

Ensure all content meets standards for accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with clinical and brand guidelines.

Uphold ethical storytelling practices, safeguarding the dignity and privacy of patients and families.

Required Qualifications

5–7+ years of experience in fundraising communications, corporate communications, marketing, or related fields, preferably within healthcare or nonprofit sectors.

Demonstrated ability to write for donor, patient‑family, or high‑net‑worth audiences with a polished, executive‑ready communication style.

Strong understanding of fundraising strategy, donor motivations, and development best practices.

Proven experience translating technical or clinical information into compelling, donor‑centered content.

Exceptional writing, editing, project management, and cross‑team collaboration skills.

Experience working with CRM systems and digital communication platforms; healthcare environment experience is a plus.

Education Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, English, journalism, or a related field.
