Assistant Professor of Education .
The position
with support the Early Childhood and Montessori Program . This includes the planning and on going maintenance of our strategic plan to support students in our certificate, bachelors, and masters programs. The person in this role will also have a small teaching load to lead courses in ECE and the Montessori MAED programs.
Responsibilities
Prepare and teach in-person Montessori methods courses, as assigned.
Participate in department engagement. Advise students each term.
Prepare and teach online courses in the ECE bachelor degree and MAED programs.
Collaboratively review and improve program-level functioning.
Communicate respectfully and build relationships of trust with people of all cultures and abilities, affirming the worth and preserving the dignity of individuals, families, and communities.
Develop and pursue an innovative and respected program of research in their area of interest and expertise to advance the discipline and inform classroom teaching. Through this, collaborate with undergraduate students in research.
Provide service to the Department and University. Consistent with the university's Catholic identity, its commitment to women, diversity, inclusion, social justice, and dedication to a liberal arts based curriculum, faculty are expected to manifest these themes in their teaching, research, service and accomplishments.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Education with at least 18 graduate credits in the area of instruction (e.g., Early Childhood Education, Child Development)
Montessori credentialed at the primary level (ages 3-6) from a MACTE approved training program (AMI or AMS)
Completion of a state-approved teacher preparation program in Early Childhood Education (Birth to Grade 3) or K-6 with Preprimary Endorsement
A minimum of 3 years full time experience as the lead teacher or teacher of record in an early childhood Montessori classroom
Knowledge of a broad variety of early childhood education theories, curriculum and program models
Knowledge of and commitment to anti-bias and anti-racist pedagogy and curriculum
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral level degree in Education or related field
American Montessori Society (AMS) certified
Current or past professional license that align(s) with available courses
Critical, self-reflective pedagogy, and anti-oppressive practice experience
Experience teaching and mentoring diverse populations
Experience working with non-traditional adult college students
Experience delivering instruction in both face-to-face and online learning environments
Experience supervising and supporting teachers

Compensation Salary range is $55,000 - $67,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
