Position Summary
The Merchandise Allocator is responsible for allocating seasonal apparel inventory across wholesale accounts to support prebook commitments, in-season demand, and strategic growth objectives. This role ensures accurate and timely distribution of product by account, delivery window, and size run, while maximizing sell-through, on-time fulfillment, and inventory efficiency throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities Seasonal & Prebook Allocation Allocate seasonal inventory by wholesale account based on prebook orders, delivery windows, and priority accounts Support prebook reconciliation by comparing orders to production receipts and identifying shortfalls or overages Execute initial allocations for seasonal deliveries, ensuring accurate size curves and style depth by account
In-Season Inventory Management Monitor sell-through, on-hand inventory, and open-to-ship inventory throughout the season Reallocate inventory in-season to support top-performing accounts, replenishment opportunities, or strategic initiatives Identify risks related to over- or under-shipped accounts and recommend adjustments Partner with Sales, Customer Service, and Distribution to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment Manage delivery timing and allocation across multiple ship windows Support late-season fulfillment, substitutions, and cancellations as needed
Analysis & Reporting Analyze sales performance, account-level sell-through, and inventory utilization Prepare allocation and inventory reports for Sales and Planning teams Track and communicate inventory constraints, shortages, and opportunities
Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Wholesale Sales, Planning, Production, and Customer Service teams Support account-specific strategies, including growth opportunities and key account initiatives Provide allocation insights to support future prebook and assortment planning
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Merchandising, or related field (or equivalent experience) 1-3 years of experience in wholesale apparel allocation, planning, or sales operations Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage large seasonal data sets Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas); experience with ERP or wholesale order management systems preferred Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications Experience working in seasonal, prebook-driven wholesale apparel businesses Understanding of wholesale apparel metrics such as sell-through, fulfillment rate, and on-time delivery Familiarity with apparel production calendars and delivery cycles Experience with ERP systems such as Momentis, SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, or ApparelMagic Analytical and strategic thinking Strong cross-functional communication Ability to manage shifting priorities during peak shipping periods Problem-solving in inventory-constrained environments Office-based or hybrid; extended computer use Peak seasonal workload aligned with delivery and ship windows
