The Property Appraiser's Office is actively seeking a Field Evaluator.

Responsibilities The Field Evaluator is responsible for collecting and verifying data for most residential properties for ad valorem purposes. This role involves direct interaction with taxpayers, conducting property inspections, and maintaining accurate property records to ensure proper valuation and compliance with established guidelines.

Collect and verify property data to support accurate ad valorem tax assessments.

Conduct taxpayer interviews to gather details on property sales, permits, and interior features.

Measure, draw, and list residential buildings using exterior dimensions, documenting improvements, and extra features.

Locate properties using maps and legal descriptions, measure structures, and list characteristics.

Assess property conditions, document unusual features, and create workflows to address unique cases.

Perform field and aerial inspections to ensure thorough property evaluations.

Input collected data—building details, drawings, photos, appraisal signoffs, and other relevant information—into the CAMA system.

Additional Qualifications

Ability to produce accurate two-dimensional drawings of buildings.

Strong attention to detail in documenting property characteristics and conditions.

Proficiency in utilizing maps and legal descriptions to identify properties.

Ability to work independently and meet production and quality standards.

Comfortable working outdoors, including extensive walking in diverse weather conditions common in Northeast Florida.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Completion of at least one real estate course such as appraising or home inspection or a college degree preferred.

Experience with construction types and structural elements preferred.

License / Certification / Registration

FL Class E Driver's License is required prior to appointment and must be maintained.

Must meet standards required to obtain a City of Jacksonville driver's certification.
