Vacation Camp Counselor Appy to serve as a Vacation Camp Counselor with the Burlington Electric Department.

General Purpose Counselor works in cooperation with the director, assistant directors, and camp counselors carrying out specific program activities. Bring the fun and excitement to kids in need of a playful escape during school break. Create an unforgettable atmosphere where laughter and safety are the top priority.

$19.15 - $20.75 hourly Remote Tier 1:

Zero days remote/week

Essential Job Functions

Available for February School Break (2/23‑2/27) and April School Break (4/20‑4/24)

Follow all departmental rules and regulations to ensure a fun, safe, and smooth camp experience.

Assist in planning and delivery of exciting activities and an enriching program.

Check area for safety hazards and report deficiencies to supervisor.

Attend staff meetings and staff trainings as required.

Report all accidents and incidents occurring within jurisdiction to supervisor.

Administer proper first aid as required.

Required to be on site 15 minutes before the program starts for setup and help with cleanup after the program ends.

Participation in a feedback‑driven evaluation process.

Qualifications / Basic Job Requirements

Demonstrated ability to support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts and work effectively across diverse cultures.

Evidence of ongoing training and professional development in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Previous experience working with children in a group or individualized situation required.

College coursework in education, child development, family studies, or recreation preferred.

Ability to supervise and organize groups of children for activity programs.

Ability to deal effectively with disagreements with co‑workers and supervisors.

Knowledge of safety principles and practices as they apply to group activities.

Knowledge of recreation/leisure activities and group games.

Cooperative attitude and team player.

Enthusiasm, patience, a desire to work with children, and creativity.
