Join the Caltrans team as a Transportation Engineering Technician working on the Culvert Inventory Program in San Luis Obispo County.
Base Pay Range $3,951.00 - $4,949.00 A $4,695.00 - $5,876.00 B $5,644.00 - $7,063.00 C New state candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable.

Job Description and Duties Caltrans has developed a Culvert Inventory Program to proactively maintain aging statewide culvert infrastructure. In support of this program and the supervision of a Senior Transportation Engineer and the functional direction of a Transportation Engineer, the Transportation Engineering Technician will assist in researching, collecting, and analyzing culvert inventory and assessment data to determine repair needs.
Eligibility Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Transportation Engineering Technician exam. Applicants without current eligibility (transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or new to state civil services employment must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
Special Requirements
Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State‑owned or leased vehicle.
