At Houston Methodist, the Residency Program Coordinator position is responsible for working closely with Methodist's Graduate Medical Education (GME) office and attending physicians. This position supports the program directors, the faculty, and the residents by coordinating administrative functions for residency training programs with no less than 12 residents and no more than 24‑30 residents in one program or in two to three programs of like specialty. The Residency Program Coordinator position may also coordinate small 3rd or 4th year medical student rotations.

Qualifications Education
High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post‑secondary education, etc.)
Experience
Experience in an academic setting in the coordination of residency and/or fellowship training programs preferred.
Skills And Abilities
Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through ongoing skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English necessary to perform essential functions, especially regarding patient or employee safety or security.
Effective communication with patients, physicians, family members and co‑workers in a customer‑service focused manner.
Competent knowledge of all Microsoft Applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software.
Ability to function independently and work well in cross‑functional and interprofessional teams.
Well‑developed organizational skills.
Attention to detail with a high priority for timely and accurate information.
Essential Functions People Essentials
Coordinates observers, rotating residents, fellows, and all medical school rotators with appropriate staff in the Department of Graduate Medical Education. Maintains up‑to‑date department alumni database.
Works with Program Directors, the department administrator, and residents to facilitate all aspects of the residency training program, including public relations and improvement of facilities or services.
Provides contributions toward improvement of department scores for employee engagement.
Service Essentials
Coordinates all administrative aspects of the residency program. Assists with new resident orientation and the institutional graduation ceremony.
Participates in the Internal Review process as a member of the Internal Review Panel for other programs. Supplies required information to the Department of Graduate Medical Education for Internal Review.
Coordinates and schedules all aspects of conferences, including presenters, audio/visual equipment, and meals or refreshments.
Updates operative statistics, publications, grants, and residency information on the department's website regularly.
Quality/Safety Essentials
Enters and maintains accuracy of data in applicable software, including demographic, rotation, schedule, evaluation, conference, and licensure information. Maintains current database of faculty and resident publications, grants, presentations, and awards.
Updates GME on licensure, permit and certification standing of all residents.
Assists with data collection for residency accreditation reviews and research projects. Participates in performance improvement activities.
Finance Essentials
Prepares reports on operative procedures for program directors, the department annual report, the website, the Methodist GME office, and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Residency Review Committee (RRC).
Works with management on the program budget, using resources efficiently and contributing to financial targets.
Growth/Innovation Essentials
May serve on the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and other designated department committees.
Offers innovative solutions through participation in performance improvement projects and activities.
Identifies and assumes responsibility for own learning needs and seeks continuing education opportunities. Maintains development plan and engages in career discussions with management.
