Overview
Country Club of Charleston is a premiere private club in the lowcountry of South Carolina founded in 1900. The club currently sits on James Island when renowned architect Seth Raynor designed the course as we know it today in 1925. The club has hosted the 2013 U.S. Women’s Amateur, 2019 U.S. Women’s Open, and will host the 2028 U.S. Mid‑Amateur. Additionally, the club is home to The Azalea Invitational, a well‑known amateur event in the southeast that has attracted past champions such as Stewart Hagestad, Luke Clanton, C.T. Pan, and Webb Simpson. The course is currently undergoing a thorough restoration by Kyle Franz and is set to open in September 2026. The golf operation is active with 30,000+ rounds a year with a full member tournament schedule.
The First Assistant Golf Professional will work closely with the Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf to provide the membership an experience worthy of Country Club of Charleston. This role will assume all responsibilities of the golf operation in the absence of the Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf. The First Assistant Golf Professional will be a leader amongst the four Assistant Golf Professionals and display characteristics that demonstrate southern hospitality at its finest.

Experience Required 4+ years as a Class A PGA Professional preferably working at high end private clubs
Essential Responsibilities
Execute the major member events such as the Member‑Guest and Member‑Member which includes but not limited to leading the staff and handling all financials
Assist Head Golf Professional in the buying, receiving, and displaying of merchandise
Manage daily operations such as the tee sheet, weekly men’s and ladies’ events, starting, rangering and daily member needs
Communicate with other departments to coordinate golf activities
Assist Director of Instruction with group clinic series
Assist Head Golf Professional in planning, set up, and administration of The Azalea Invitational
Play golf with all demographics of membership
Assist in hiring, training, and managing staff
Providing the highest level of customer service, but going beyond customer service to build strong relationships with the members to be able to service and anticipate their needs
Passionate about hospitality as it specifically pertains to the business of golf
Attention to detail
Problem solving and critical thinking
Personal drive and devotion to advance their career to the next level
Approachable, friendly and open personality
Professional level communication and accountability
Able to work as a team for the greater good of the membership and all staff
Benefits
5‑day work week: 40‑45 hours a week (more during major events)
