About the Role About the Role The Town of Mooresville is seeking a dedicated Assistant Golf Professional to support daily operations of the Town’s municipal golf course and serve in the absence of the Head PGA Professional. This role is central to delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining smooth golf shop operations, and supporting high-quality recreational programming.
The Assistant Golf Professional supervises part-time staff, including golf cart and range workers, marshals, and starters, and serves as a key point of contact for golfers, tournament participants, and the general public. The role requires strong professional golf knowledge, teaching ability, and a passion for the game, combined with tact, diplomacy, and excellent interpersonal skills. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Head PGA Professional and involves both indoor and outdoor environments.
Supervise part-time staff, including golf cart and range workers, marshals, and starters, ensuring safe and efficient course operations.
Provide excellent customer service by answering phones, scheduling tee times, collecting fees, and addressing questions or concerns.
Assist with planning, coordinating, and supporting tournaments and special events.
Sell merchandise in the golf shop, assist customers with equipment selection, process transactions, and maintain inventory.
Maintain daily golf shop financial records, including balancing receipts, reconciling cash drawers, and reviewing daily reports.
Support the Head PGA Professional with event coordination, customer relations, and operational planning.
Maintain professional playing ability and provide instruction or guidance to golfers as needed.
Ensure staff compliance with safety regulations and operational standards.
Perform operational tasks to ensure smooth customer experiences, including cart rotation, washing, staging, and starting players.
Graduation from a college or university and three to five years of experience in golf course operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PGA Professional Class A certification and possession of a PGA card preferred.
