TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST I
Full‑time position posted by the State of New Hampshire. 3rd shift.
Salary: $17.81/hour – $23.39/hour.
Department: Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Systems Management & Operations, 110 Smokey Bear Blvd, Concord, NH.
SUMMARY : Receive, process, and disseminate information using the Transportation Management Center’s Transportation Management System (TMS).
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Scan display wall to obtain traffic management information.
Communicate with other TMC operators and supervisors to coordinate traffic management activities.
Monitor real‑time traffic flow data from multiple sources.
Operate camera and scan multiple monitors to monitor, verify, and diagnose traffic events.
Monitor and evaluate environmental conditions and Roadway Weather Information Systems (RWIS).
Use multi‑channel telephone and radio headset to communicate with other NHDOT employees, other TMC operators, TMC supervisors, interagency traffic management personnel, and public about traffic management and events.
Perform and oversee work in full conformance with all risk management, safety, and environmental standards, regulations, and administrative orders.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after high school. Two years in a field or occupation including dispatching, communications, emergency response, information technology or related field.
No license/certification required.
Must pass a fingerprint‑based criminal background check.
Will be willing to work extended and/or flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays, and may be required to report to work with little notice during transportation events and/or emergencies as needed.
Will be available for call‑back duty with little notice during transportation events and emergencies as required.
