Position Summary

The Barista supports daily café operations by delivering high-quality beverages and exceptional guest service while helping maintain an efficient, welcoming café environment. This role works closely with the Program & Café Manager and serves as a reliable on-floor presence during busy periods or when the Manager is focused on workforce development and administrative responsibilities. The Barista models professionalism, supports trainees, and ensures consistent service, cleanliness, and adherence to health and safety standards in alignment with The Center’s mission and values. $15.00/hr - $15.00/hr Key Responsibilities

Barista & Guest Service

Prepare high-quality espresso drinks, brewed coffee, and specialty beverages Provide warm, efficient guest service and resolve basic service issues Follow recipes and portion standards for consistency Encourage pastry sales and seasonal menu items Shift Support & Leadership

Serve as the acting point-of-contact only when the Program & Café Manager is occupied Maintain bar flow and efficiency during busy periods Support training and onboarding when workforce development trainees begin Model professionalism, reliability, and positive culture on the café floor Operations & Cleanliness

Maintain the cleanliness of the bar, workstation, equipment, and customer areas Ensure SNHD health and safety requirements are followed Complete and maintain daily and weekly cleaning checklists Maintain café organization and help improve workflow when necessary Inventory & Supplies

Track low-stock items and alert the Program & Café Manager Receive pastry or coffee deliveries when the Program & Café Manager is off the floor Rotate stock properly to reduce waste POS & Cash Handling

Operate the Clover POS accurately Handle guest transactions and basic refunds/voids within policy Assist with cash counts and secure handling procedures as assigned Administrative & Program Support

Provide feedback on menu items, guest trends, and operational needs Assist with café-side tasks for promotions, signs, seasonal drinks, and displays Help maintain smooth café operations while the Program & Café Manager focuses on workforce development and business administration Minimum Qualifications

6+ months of barista or food-service experience Excellent customer service skills Ability to multitask and work independently when needed Reliable, punctual, and comfortable, taking initiative Ability to work 25‑30 hours a week and stand for extended periods Work Environment

A Barista works as part of a small two-person café team. The role requires someone responsible, adaptable, and proactive, and capable of running the floor smoothly when the Program & Café Manager is attending to workforce development or operational duties. Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout facilities Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl to maintain equipment and buildings Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions Equal Opportunity Employer
