Job Requirements Material Handler - Structural Steel
Location: Arlington, WI
Shifts Available: 1st Shift (Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)
2nd Shift (Monday-Thursday, 3:15 p.m. – 1:45 a.m.)
Endres Manufacturing is seeking a dependable, safety‑driven Material Handler to support our Structural Steel Department. This position plays a key role in moving, staging, and organizing structural steel using overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Safely handle and move structural steel up to 60 ft. beams using remote‑operated overhead cranes (up to 10 tons), forklifts, and rigging equipment.
Identify and differentiate structural steel shapes and sizes (beams, angles, channels, pipe, tube, etc.).
Operate forklifts to move long‑length steel, not palletized material.
Support daily production needs by staging and organizing steel for machine operators, fabricators, and welders.
Load and unload trucks carrying structural steel, trusses, and related materials.
Verify incoming steel against purchase orders; document shortages, damage, or incorrect shipments.
Maintain accurate labeling, organization, and rotation of all steel materials.
Assist with physical inventory counts.
Work in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to temperature changes and weather elements.
Use a tape measure daily; must pass an onsite measurement skills test.
Follow all company safety procedures, including proper PPE and safe rigging practices.
Contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
Learn basic machine operations and assist production processes as needed.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Experience handling structural steel or construction materials; ability to recognize truss components and steel fabrication terminology.
Prior work in a steel fabrication shop, construction yard, or similar environment.
Experience operating overhead cranes, remote hoists, forklifts, and hand tools.
Strong understanding of material‑handling safety and hazard awareness.
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with team members.
Basic problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
High school diploma or GED required.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, and reaching throughout the shift. Ability to grip, grasp, push, pull, and handle long‑length steel materials safely. Comfortable working in both shop and outdoor yard environments.
