Instructional Support Specialist

in our Devereux Day Academy located in Landenberg, PA.

This position will support teacher’s direction by providing assistance with academic, social, and behavioral needs of assigned clients. You will assist in the implementation of basic educational programming and perform duties as directed by the building administrator or classroom teacher, including individual tutoring or one‑on‑one support for a student with special needs.

Daily Responsibilities

Ensure the health and safety of the students.

Provide assistance with academic, social, and behavioral needs.

Support the teacher and administration’s direction while supporting youth and reporting progress daily.

Reinforce PBIS goals and objectives.

Benefits

Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8am‑4pm (52 week year‑round position).

Pay Rate: $17.50–$19.95/hr (based upon education and experience).

Devereux Day Academy Devereux Day Academy is a private academic school program located in Landenberg, PA, licensed to serve students in grades K‑12 who have been identified with emotional disturbance, behavioral and cognitive differences. The program also assists children with autism, intellectual disabilities, and speech and language impairments. The core curriculum aligns with Pennsylvania Core Standards and partner school districts’ curricula, focusing on differentiated instruction, evidence‑based instructional strategies, and rigorous learning expectations. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). A multidisciplinary team—including parents or guardians—regularly reviews the plan to discuss progress and adjust goals. The program emphasizes a program‑wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW‑PBIS) system that promotes and rewards positive behaviors and prevents negative behaviors.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma required. Associate’s Degree or completion of two years of post‑secondary education from an accredited college or university preferred.

Experience: Previous experience working in a special education or behavioral healthcare setting with students with severe/complex behavioral/emotional issues preferred.
