This pivotal role involves balancing a rich legacy with the need to elevate the organization's mission, particularly in inspiring innovation and the exploration of historical collections. The CEO will have the opportunity to re-engage the Board and staff in a strategic planning process, with a focus on relevance, stewardship, and sustainability. Key responsibilities include updating the organization's digital footprint, addressing infrastructure and process improvement needs, and reinvigorating resource development to enhance the company's profile.
The ideal CEO for the company will have a compelling vision for engaging diverse audiences in lifelong learning related to science, technology, and engineering. They should have a proven track record of leading and directing complex organizations, preferably in a nonprofit or cultural institution, and possess the business acumen to allocate resources in support of a strategic plan. Experience in setting and meeting quantified objectives, as well as running a fiscally sustainable organization, is essential. The role also requires the ability to build durable relationships with donors, stakeholders, and constituencies.
