About the Role

The Company is in search of a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to play a pivotal role in the strategic development and cultural alignment of the organization. The successful candidate will be a mission-driven, data-driven leader with a strong background in high-volume, people-focused environments, particularly within the nonprofit sector. Key responsibilities for the CHRO include managing a team of HR professionals, overseeing the implementation of contemporary HR practices, and ensuring that all HR functions, from recruitment to performance management, are executed with an equitable and inclusive approach. The role demands a leader with a deep understanding of collective bargaining, Illinois employment law, and a proven track record in leading or significantly contributing to CBA negotiations. The CHRO will also be tasked with fostering a culture of accountability, leading DEI efforts, and maintaining a high level of technical skill in HR processes.

The ideal candidate for the CHRO position at the company will have a minimum of 10 years' of related HR experience, with at least 7 years' in an HR leadership role. They must possess advanced knowledge of labor laws, HR functions, and best practices, and have a strong background in team development and mentoring. The role requires a leader who can relate to a diverse workforce, from front-line staff to C-suite, and who is adept at using HR data for evidence-based decision-making. A Bachelor's degree is required, with a Master's/Advanced degree and/or technical certifications desired. The CHRO will be expected to lead with empathy, manage critical initiatives, and ensure that all HR strategies support the organization's core commitment to providing the highest quality of care and support to its members.
