About the Role
The Company is seeking a Founding Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the creation of a new Charter Management Organization (CMO) dedicated to supporting a network of semi-autonomous schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing the CMO's vision, mission, values, and strategic plan, with a focus on innovation, evidence-based practices, and a commitment to equity. This role requires a bold, visionary, and entrepreneurial leader with a proven track record in education, nonprofit management, or startup environments, and at least 7-10 years of leadership experience. The CEO will work closely with the Founding Board of Directors, community members, and key stakeholders to build a high-performing team, cultivate positive relationships, and ensure the CMO's sustainability through effective fundraising and resource development.
Key responsibilities for the CEO include strategic leadership, organizational culture and team management, governance and board development, community engagement, and advocacy. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of strong governance, performance management, and operational systems, and a history of designing and leading innovative, equity-centered initiatives. They should be adept at both strategy and execution, with strong communication skills to mobilize stakeholders. The role also demands a leader who values trust, partnership, and belonging, and who can turn vision into structure while leading with humility and a focus on feedback. Experience with governance and semi-autonomous or networked organizations, as well as familiarity with the local education landscape, is preferred.
