Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This position offers an opportunity for a Special Education Teacher to support students in a K-12 school setting. Located in Chincoteague Island, VA, the role is a contract position for the current school year (CSY). The teacher will work closely with students across elementary and middle school levels, providing tailored educational support in both inclusion and self-contained settings. Key Responsibilities: Deliver individualized instruction to students with special needs in elementary and middle school settings Manage caseloads averaging 15 students in elementary inclusion and middle school inclusion classrooms Provide specialized support in an elementary self-contained classroom with a typical caseload of 8 students Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive learning environments Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with state and federal guidelines Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on assessment data Qualifications: Valid special education teaching certification appropriate for K-12 education Experience working with diverse learners in inclusion and self-contained classrooms Strong classroom management and organizational skills Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Knowledge of IU regulations and special education best practices Location: Chincoteague Island, VA This contract opportunity is ideal for professionals dedicated to fostering academic and social growth for students with special needs in a supportive school environment.
