Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position offers an opportunity to provide specialized instruction for visually impaired students within a dynamic K-12 school environment located near Stafford, VA, in the Washington DC area. The role is for a contracted, full-time assignment running from January 5, 2026, through May 29, 2026. The position requires full adherence to the Visual Impairment discipline and active Virginia Department of Education certification. Key Responsibilities: Deliver specialized instruction and assessment tailored to visually impaired students across K-12 grade levels Manage a caseload averaging approximately 22 students per teacher Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to support student development and accessibility Adapt and implement curriculum according to individual educational plans Monitor and document student progress and compliance with state and district standards Qualifications: Active Virginia Department of Education certification in Teaching Visually Impaired students (TVI) Experience working with visually impaired students in a K-12 educational setting Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams Knowledge of assistive technologies and strategies for visual impairment education Location and Schedule: Based near Stafford, VA, approximately 45 minutes south of Washington DC Full-time commitment, 37.5 hours per week Contract duration from January 5, 2026, through May 29, 2026 Benefits of this role include the chance to impact student lives through specialized instruction in a well-supported environment with opportunities for professional growth.
