Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification and 1+ years Pharmacy Technician experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A retail pharmacy technician role is available to support a specialty retail pharmacy serving complex patients with multiple chronic conditions. This position involves working directly with patients managing 8-15 medications daily, requiring exceptional communication skills, patience, and strong pharmaceutical knowledge. The role is contract-based with potential to convert to permanent, providing an excellent opportunity to gain experience in specialty pharmacy settings. Location: Washington, PA Type: Contract (13 weeks) with possible contract-to-hire Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:30 AM 5:00 PM (lunch 12:30 PM 1:00 PM), no weekends Responsibilities: Accurately process prescription orders and assist pharmacists in dispensing medication Provide compassionate, clear communication to patients, many of whom have low literacy levels and complex chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis Utilize technology, preferably Pioneer Rx, to maintain patient records and manage prescriptions Support medication adherence for Medicare/Medicaid and low-income patient populations Demonstrate patience and empathy when addressing patient questions or concerns related to specialty medications Qualifications or Desired Experience: Prior experience in retail or specialty pharmacy settings, particularly with chronic illness patient populations Strong knowledge of the top 200-400 drugs commonly found in retail pharmacies Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills, especially with medically complex and underserved patients Current registration with the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy; national certification (PTCB) is highly preferred but not mandatory Familiarity with Pioneer Rx software is a plus; training available if needed This contract opportunity is an ideal fit for pharmacy technicians seeking to expand their specialty pharmacy experience while making a meaningful impact on patients' health outcomes.
