A specialty pharmacy is seeking three experienced Certified Pharmacy Technicians with a strong background in Benefit Coverage, Access, and Prior Authorization processes to join on a contract basis. This opportunity focuses on working with rare and orphan drugs used for patients with rare diseases, requiring specialized expertise beyond general retail pharmacy experience. Located in the Bronx, NY, this role operates Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Candidates must have experience specifically within specialty pharmacies or specialty PBMs, as this position involves managing high-cost medications and navigating complex approval and payment pathways. The role demands excellent clinical knowledge and strong communication skills to maintain high-touch interactions between providers and patients. Key Responsibilities: Assist patients and healthcare providers with obtaining prior authorizations and navigating insurance coverage for specialty medications Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) systems to manage specialty pharmacy workflows Support programs related to medication costs, including grants, rebates, and patient assistance Facilitate clear, high-quality communication with patients and providers to ensure adherence and timely access to therapy Qualifications and Desired Experience: Active pharmacy technician license from Arizona and national certification in good standing Proven specialty pharmacy experience, ideally in retail specialty, specialty mail order, or specialty PBMs Familiarity with rare disease medications and the challenges associated with their access and reimbursement Ability to demonstrate experience working with prior authorizations and reimbursement processes Strong clinical and communication skills for high-touch patient and provider interaction Location: Bronx, NY Type: Contract (13 weeks with possible contract-to-hire) Shift: Monday - Friday, days This role is ideal for certified pharmacy technicians looking to apply their specialty pharmacy expertise in a focused, clinical setting.
