Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A K-12 educational opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to provide specialized instruction within a public school setting in Kenner, LA. This full-time contract position supports students from diverse age groups within the Jefferson Parish school district, serving as a key resource to enhance their learning experience through tailored communication and auditory skill development. Location:Kenner, LA (Jefferson Parish district) Position Details: Contract duration through the current school year, ending May 22, 2026 Full-time schedule: 35 hours per week; Monday through Friday aligned with the school calendar Daily hours: 7 hours with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break Caseload and school assignments to be determined Engage with students across K-12 grades who are deaf or hard of hearing Qualifications: Active Louisiana Department of Education teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Demonstrated experience teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in a K-12 setting preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and educational teams Ability to adapt instruction to meet the individual auditory and language needs of students Responsibilities: Deliver specialized instruction targeted to the unique auditory and language needs of deaf and hard of hearing students Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with state and federal guidelines Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including speech therapists, audiologists, and general education staff Maintain accurate records and participate in ongoing professional development Benefits: Supportive work environment focused on student success Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' academic and social growth Competitive compensation commensurate with experience Interested professionals with appropriate certification and a passion for serving deaf and hard of hearing learners are encouraged to apply promptly.
