Our client, a highly respected and long-established Birmingham-based professional services firm, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This is a key leadership role within a polished, professional, and stable environment, ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who values excellence, discretion, and long-term impact. Pay:
$140,000 – $160,000 per year Compensation:
Annual bonus Responsibilities Oversee whole accounting function, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, taxes, and general ledger. Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes and prepare timely, accurate financial statements. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for the firm. Oversee equity partner distributions and related reporting. Ensure compliance with all tax, regulatory, and internal control requirements. Supervise and mentor three staff‑level accountants. Partner with firm leadership to support strategic and financial decision‑making. Continuously improve processes while maintaining high standards and professional culture. Qualifications Minimum of 8 years of overall accounting experience. CPA license required. At least 3 years of management or supervisory experience. Strong background overseeing a full accounting function; professional services experience is a plus. Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff. High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with senior leadership and partners.
