Job responsibilities

Review preoperative and postoperative physician orders to determine patient needs.

Obtain and verify the patient’s medical history upon admission.

Review diagnostic data and collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers on needed follow-up.

Perform comprehensive assessments of the patient and their understanding of care.

Anticipate potential care issues using clinical judgment and collaborate with the care team as needed.

Plan patient care based on assessment findings and established standards and policies.

Coordinate with anesthesia and surgery teams to ensure required preoperative care is completed and prevent surgical delays.

Perform preoperative diagnostic procedures according to standards and policies.

Demonstrate competency in phlebotomy, specimen collection, EKGs, and required tests.

Administer IV solutions and medications safely and correctly.

Complete accurate admission, discharge, and physician order documentation.

Maintain accurate and complete patient records.

Evaluate patient care goals, quality of care provided, and outcomes.

Provide clear perioperative instructions and education to patients and families.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Valid RN license in the state of Texas

Minimum of 2 years of experience in PreOp and/or PACU settings

Current BLS and ACLS certifications

Ability to adapt quickly to new facilities and conditions

Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care
